Knut’s experience in the insurance industry spans over 30 years, during which he has held various executive leadership roles in both Fortune 500 companies and niche insurance businesses. As the CEO and President of National Guardian Life Insurance Company, Knut is responsible for overseeing the company’s multiple niche businesses, including Preneed, Dental and Vision, and Long-Term Care Insurance Lines. Under his leadership, NGL has seen significant growth, with the company’s total capital increasing by over 50% in the last four years. Additionally, NGL was upgraded by AM Best to an A rating.

Prior to his current role, Knut served as the President of Forester North American Life Insurance and Annuity business, and as the Chairman and CEO of Foresters Financial Services, Inc. In this role, he led the strategy and operations for life, health, and investment product management, performance, actuary, distribution, new business underwriting, servicing, fulfillment, processing, and claims. Knut also spent 26 years at Thrivent Financial, where he held various leadership roles, including Financial Advisor, General Agent, Managing Partner, Divisional VP, Head of Sales, and ultimately SVP over much of the core business.

Knut’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University, a green belt in lean six sigma from the University of Michigan, and the Chartered Life Underwriter designation from the American College. He is currently pursuing an MBA program at the University of Liverpool. Knut splits his time between Nashville, TN, and Madison, WI, and is actively involved in both communities.
